Can't connect to Internet thru router - can't connect to DHCP server.

I'm trying to set up a new computer to reach the Internet and am
having difficulty.

The previous computer connected to the Internet without a problem. The
device manager shows 2 network adapters installed (I just installed
them from the ASUS motherboard CD. They are 1394 Net Adapter and 3Com
Gigabit LOM(3C940). Device manager says both devices are working
properly. I don't know why I have 2 network adapters. Another mystery.

The light on the router came on when I connected the cable to the new
computer. That's a good sign.

When I attempt to go through the installation of the D-Link router on
the new PC I'm unable to reach http://192.168.0.1 with IE. Probably
because I can't reach the Internet.

IPCONFIG

When I type in just 'ipconfig' at the command prompt, I get:

Connection specific DNS suffix -- wite1.on.cogeco.ca
IP address ---------------------- 192.168.0.101
Subnet mask ----------------------255.255.255.0
Default gateway ------------------192.168.0.1

When I do a 'release' I get 0.0.0.0 for IP address and Subnet mask.

When I do a 'renew' I get the message: Unable to connect to your DHCP
server.

I've just installed PC-cillin and have turned its firewall OFF.

Any ideas on how to fix this?!
