Used spyware for first time and it has firewalled my

Any answers.

First of all, are you running latest version ? 1.0.615
Start MSAS > Help-About.

If not > www.microsoft.com > "Popular downloads".

Then look at this kb from MS.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;892350

Is your Internet Explorer set to work off-line or on-
line? Please check in the File menu of Internet Exporer -
the "Work off-line" option should nšt be checked.

Good luck

up. Found that when I "downed" spyware I was reconnected.
Looks like there is no solution or tips in this forum.

Are you unable to read the replies?

Has Engel's information failed in your case?

Engel *did* give the tip:

"Is your Internet Explorer set to work off-line or on-
line? Please check in the File menu of Internet Exporer -
the "Work off-line" option should nšt be checked."

This was your problem.

And this forum is a very good one, with lots of people always willing to
spend a lot of their time helping others, and succeeding, judging by the
thanks.

Many users, coming in via the HTML interface, never manage to figure out how
to see replies--there are three or four such messages in the last 5 days or
so.

There's a bug in the software providing this interface such that certain
Mozilla-based browsers can't properly click on the PLUS sign and expand the
threads. Using the Expand All at the top of a given page does work.

This is one of a number of annoyances about this web forum interface
software.

Can you describe your problem from scratch? I'm not at all sure it is
related to the conversation in this thread which was completely disjointed
and never resolved.

You've installed Microsoft Antispyware.

Did you use it to scan your system and clean something up?

You are now getting a message that something cannot connect to the
Internet--is that Microsoft Antispyware, when trying to get definitions?

You have a dsl connection, and are not experiencing any other trouble with
Internet connectivity--i.e. web browsing works, email works?

If it is Microsoft Antispyware, here's more:

1) this can be caused by any break in connectivity between the app and the
definition servers--including those servers being down. There are new
definitions available today--sometimes we've had a brief spate of this
message just before definitions have been available, which goes away with
time

2) this can be cause by either Internet Explorer or Outlook Express being
set to "work offline."

3) this can be caused by a software firewall, perhaps part of an antivirus
suite, that controls outbound traffic.

4) Some have been able to resolve this message by checking the
"automatically detect" box in
Internet Options, connection tab, either Lan or dialup settings, depending
on the type of connection--in your case, it would be LAN settings.
