IE6 won't close. I can't close it using the File menu or
the "X". And, when open and running it utilizes 100% of my
processor time.

I just gotthe problem sorted out. I went into the MS
system information and scanned my loaded modules. I found
some modules that were NOT Microsoft or from companies
with known loaded software. In c:\windows you will find
these files:
iexplorr27, iexplorr26, iexplorr29.

I would suggest that you may find more then 3 of these
files and only the last 2 didgits in the file names will
be different. The more difficult part was killing the
processes as they are not shown as running under windows
Task Manager. Therefore (and there probably is a far more
easier way to do this), I booted up windows in safe mode
(this will not allow modules to be loaded) then went into
the above directory and deleted these files. You will then
have to reboot windows. Hope this help you. I had a tough
time tracking this one down....

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to

Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

What you find came from this parasite.

Clean your computer.

Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
