Can't change system settings

I upgraded from XP Home to XP Professional and have found
that I cannot change the system settings ie: virtual
memory size or location. The APPLY button is grayed
out even though I am an administor on the machine. Any
ideas as to why??

You have a user acount set-up for yourself with adm.
privlages?You can also reboot or start computer tap the
F8 key before xp blk screen,select,start in safe
mode,open ADM. acount at log-in, edit the virtual memory.
