I am running Windows XP Home Edition on a Dell Inspiron laptop with an
nVidia graphics card. Whenever I try to set the resolution of my screen to
anything other than native mode (in my case, 1600x1200), a warning message
pops up:
"You have selected a non-optimal screen resolution setting for your LCD
display panel. Selecting this resolution may result in fuzzy text and
pictures."
It then goes on to tell me that LCD panels should be run at native
resolution only, and I should set my resolution back to 1600x1200. At the
bottom of the warning message, there is a check box next to a statement that
says:
"Don't show me this message again."
Every single time that the message comes up, I check the check box. And
every single time I try to change resolution, the message comes back up.
It's one thing to have to handle this when I have manually changed my
resolution. But I have a number of other applications (mostly games) which
*internally* reset the screen resolution to 640x480, or 800x600, or
whatever. And every time I try to start any of these games, the game window
gets minimized to the Task Bar, the warning message comes up, I click to
close it, and as soon as I try to restore the game window from the Task Bar,
it gets minimized after about 2 seconds, and the warning message comes back
up again!!
How do I *GET RID OF* this message??? I *KNOW* the repercussions of running
in non-native resolution. I just want it to SHUT UP about it! But checking
the check box is NOT working.
