I have a virus that pre-empts any attempt to change
explorer homepage. I am automatically redirected to this
page if I try to access google. I've cleared history,
reset all settings etc. no luck. any advice?

Maybe you already know this...
On your IE menu, select Tools, then Internet Options...
Type in the home page address you want in the Home Page
address field and click OK.

Sounds like you need to get an antivirus software
solution. Check with McAfee or Norton for help on this
one. They often have small "stinger" utilities that you
can download to floppy and run to check/remove the
notorious big-hitters. Good luck!
