Hi! My coumpter crashed due to a virus and I used the robot discs from my
other emachine to reformat. The computer was running windows second now it
has windows 2000. The problem im having is that my display is stuck at 640 x
480 pixels with 16 color. When I go into properties to try and change this
their are no other options and it wont let me move the bar to change the
display settings. Im not sure if this is a drivers problem or what. Any
suggestions. Because settings arent right on my monitor i cant run alot of
programs .

You need Win2k drivers for your graphics card, from the manu.web site, not
winupdate.
Possibly you may need other drivers, eg mobo, sound, etc

You need to install the right drivers for your motherboard since your
other computer probably uses a different motherboard.


Both your display adapter and your monitor need updated drivers. Until
your system recognizes these two things, you can't install diddly-****
for video. Get these drivers from the manufacturer if Windows 2000
doesn't recognize them. But first get your motherboard drivers
reinstalled.
