I am using PPT 2002. I can't change the order in which
the text boxes and jpg appear in a slide. I have
followed the help directions but the custom animation
boxes remain "grayed out". Any help would really be
appreciated.

Are your animations on your slide master, or are they on the objects on
the slide itself?

Can you tell us the steps you're following to try to change the order?

If you right-click an object and choose Custom Animation, do you see any
up and down arrows at the very bottom of the task pane?

Normally a very simple process. Perhaps you overlooked the need to highlight the intended changed object and that is why custom animations is still gray. It has happened before. :-)
