I am trying to capture some VCR tapes I have unto my computer using Movie
Maker ,,.. VCR is set up through external capture device(ATI theatrix 550
pro) tuner capture card(external adapter),..evertime i click capture video in
Movie Maker,.error message pops up stating program is not responding, need to
shut down,,. I send ther error reports to microsoft,...
I have since tried a few things such as removing certain video filters, audio
filters...none of these attempts have worked,..still won't work,,..
I have even disabled Media Center Reciever Service which didn't help
either,,.still getting error messages,..
I there anyone out there who might have experienced same promblems and fixed
them,. or anyone who knows about Movie Maker and how to properly set it up so
that my tapes can be edited using Movie Maker Program......
If anyone can respond to this request with some help(suggessions),,man I
would really appreciate it,.have been struggling with this promblem for a
week,,.

MM rarely works well with analogue cature.
Your best bet is to use the software which came with the capture card.
This though will no doubt give you a mpeg file, which MM will not like. SO
you have to convert this to a wmv or dv-avi file, not a divx compressed one
which most apps do, then import this into MM for editing.
