I installed XP Pro, now my burner doesn't work (along with
my scanner, but that's another issue).

It's enabled to burn, recognized as a recorder, and the
IMAPI service is running (but needs to be started every
boot up despite being in automatic for smoe reason).

What gives?

You know, one of the reasons I upgraded to XP was the ease
of burning.....

No idea. You didn't tell us what actually happens when you try to burn
something.

Everything seems to proceed normally (I have XP Pro on
my office laptop too, this is a home desktop
installation),But at the end I get a message saying the
burn operation cannot be completed.

Looking at the CD, it seems nothing was written.

When I try to move folders on a CD-RW, I get an instant
message saying that files cannot be moved on this CD.

will not spinn up and start recording. Never makes it past
6% on the lead-in. Disks are trashed, and I cannot get the
write operation to abort without manually rebooting. Send
the drive back twice now, am getting readty to smash the
$89.00 piece of junk with a hammer. No error messages, no
warnings, just tries to spin up and then spins down at all
speeds. Memorex tells me there is nothing wrong with the
drive, although it exibits the same action on other PCs.
