Hi, I hope you guys can help.

I upgraded to XP Professional last December and since then I am not
able to burn data cd's like I used to when I had XP Home. I can burn
them using Nero, but when I put a BLANK cd in the drive and go to open
it - so i can drag files over and then click on "write these files to
cd" it comes up with an message saying the device is inaccessible.

Has anyone else had this issue? Or is there anything anyone knows that
can fix it. I've had a look on the net and there doesnt seem to be any
information that could help me.

I hope u guys can help - its starting to bug me - coz thats how i burnt
data cds - it was so easy - better than going through Nero like I have
to do now

Also, when I try to burn an audio cd through Windows Media Player it
says some message about that there is no recognised cd drive - but when
i go into the options menu (i think) it shows that my cd drive is
there.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Hi Elissa

Click on the following download link to get a file that may clear up
your problems:
http://aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip
Save the file and then extract the contents, which will be 2 registry
files and a Read Me file that has some instructions.
Basically what you need to do is to right-click on the cdgone.reg file
and choose Merge. That will remove all registry entries relating to
CD drive(s) from your computer. Then reboot the computer and it will
redetect the drive(s) and (hopefully) this time things will work
properly.

Good luck
