Can't browse remote network with VPN

Hello all,

Very strange issue for me, tested on other independent Vista machine. When I
connect to my workplace network via VPN I receive the appropriate address
and can ping all internal servers or browse the Internet. However, I cannot
browse shares on remote network - i.e. when I type \\servername.domain in
the Run window, my system's response is "Network path not found". That makes
no sense because I am able to ping the same server using the same IP.

When I don't use remote gateway (checkbox in TCP/IP advanced properties is
unchecked) I don't receive any classless static routes defined on remote
DHCP thus I can't even ping other servers. The workaround is to add static
routes manually in Vista after connection is up, but it still doesn't allow
me to browse the network shares on remote computers ("network path not
found").

This behaviour is confirmed on another Vista machine connecting to the same
network. In Windows XP, with or without use of remote gateway, everything
works just fine and I can browse any remote server.

Any comments or advices will be really appreciated. Thank you in advance for
your help.

Best regards,
Wojciech Kowasz (docent)

I'm experiencing the same RAS/VPN issue. DHCP Option 249 isn't being received
by my Vista box. It was working great in XP.
