Dear all
I have created a slide and on one of the slides, I have created a play
button which is linked to a avi file.
When I run the slideshow and when I get to the relevant slide with the
play button, I click the button but it only takes me to a wrong folder
and I have to search for the avi file.

I then have to select the AVI file and then click run.
How can I make the settings work so that when the play button is
clicked, the video will automatically open Windows Media Player and then
run?
Thanks
Barry

Why are you trying to use the Windows Media Player instead of running it
natively in PowerPoint?

Hi
Sorry about the two posts, Thunderbird problem.

You ask why cant I run the AVI in Powerpoint, well if I imput the AVI
file directly into Powerpoint, it only runs teh sound, not the video.

Although I have used Powerpoint for straight slide presentations, I have
not put video into a presentation.
Can you assist further please?

Barry, try these steps

Create a folder with a short path. (Example: C:\Test)

Move the presentation to that folder.

Move any videos you are planning on using to the same folder. (Presentation
and videos in same folder.)

Using Insert > Movie > From File insert the video onto your slide.

Run the presentation, does all work properly?

Dear Austin
I did as you suggested, created a a new folder with the presentation and
AVi file in the same folder.
I inserted the AVI file into a slide, it shows as a black square.

I ran the show, and all I get is the black square and sound, no video/

I know the video displays in Windows Media Player.

Any further suggestions please?

Barry,

Have you tried PFCPro? www.playsforcertain.com

It comes as a two week fully functioning trial so it won't cost a thing to
get this sorted out. Beyond just correcting problem videos it allows you to
edit existing video, use DVDs in the presentation, use streaming media from
the internet and a bunch of other multimedia related features.

What is the path (folder) where you have the presentation stored?
