Buy a new one. Or if it is new get it replaced. I had the "bad block"
error on an HP CD/DVD combo drive and HP replaced it. The laser was bad.
After a year I got the same error again. I replaced the drive and it is

| I have a problem with my CD-RW not being able to burn CD's
| and my DVD not opening and when it does, sometimes it will
| read the CD, sometimes not. I've found the 'error report'
| on both but don't know what they mean or how to fix them.
|
| The errors are:
|
| 1)The driver detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom1
|
| and
|
| 2)The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block.
|
| Can ANYONE PLEASE help me with this...I hope somebody will
| respond with some help!! Please!!!!
