I'm trying to add a 2003 server (Enterprise edition) to a
W2k Domain, it's role will be an application server.

Wk2 Domain controller is refusing the request and the
following get thrown to the event log of the 2003 server -
nothing to the domain controller log.
I also added a W2k server yesterday by simply moving it
from the work group to Domain so i'm guessing it's a 2003
setting i need to change? The domain is set to accept
only secure dynamic Updates.

********************************************************
The system failed to register host (A) resource records
(RRs) for network adapter
with settings:

Adapter Name : {32A5FDD2-5529-4CFD-B5D0-0B8D077BEC10}
Host Name : inet-net2
Primary Domain Suffix : inet
DNS server list :
10.0.0.10, 10.0.0.14
Sent update to server : <?>
IP Address(es) :
10.0.0.55

The reason the system could not register these RRs was
because the DNS server contacted refused the update
request. The reasons for this might be (a) you are not
allowed to update the specified DNS domain name, or (b)
because the DNS server authoritative for this name does
not support the DNS dynamic update protocol.

To register the DNS host (A) resource records using the
specific DNS domain name and IP addresses for this
adapter, contact your DNS server or network systems
administrator.

Could you verify the actual domain name is it a single label domain name?
domain vs. domain.com?

This is a problem with XP Pro Win2k3 may be the same XP won't dynamic update
a TLD by default. There is a reg hack for XP pro but I don't know if it
works for Win2k3. Here's the XP Pro article hard to say if it applies to
Win2k3 you may have to call MS support on this one.

Kevin, Thanks.
The Domain is a single label name as you say.
I'll do some reading up on that article and see how i go.
Thanks.
