One of the things to remember is always do one piece of hardware at once or,
as you've discovered, it makes it really difficult to diagnose exactly which
one is causing the problem.
With USB devices, it's nearly always the case that the drivers must be
installed BEFORE the hardware is connected to the PC. And June is rather a
long time for a System Restore point, I'd probably only consider rolling
back a week or so.
