I have tried loading my Font files to C:/Windows/Fonts, they do appear
inside the directory when viewing thru my File Manager, but when using
my programs, they don't show up in any of my Font menu pulldowns; only
the default fonts that come with the machine. I'm using Windows XP Pro

Try loading them via Control Panel > Fonts > File > Install New Fonts.
