Like all other versions, you must first add the Outlook Address Book Service
to your profile. Tools > Accounts...etc.

Russ,

I am having the same problem with the grayed out box but when I go to create
the address book I receive a note saying "This account or directory type
already exists and cannot be specified twice."

I also cannot delete or remove the previously created address book. When I
open the current Outlook Address book it doesn't show any previous address
books and doesn't allow me to select new ones for inclusion.

Any ideas on how I can remove this account and recreate it?

Thanks.

Brian

Assuming you are also using Outlook 2007, how did you migrate your data to
this new installation?

Yes I am using Outlook 2007. I migrated the data through my company network
from my old XP laptop to my new Windows Vista laptop using the Vista data
move program.

Hope this helps to clarify things.

It does. Never use Vista's Windows Easy Transfer for Outlook. It does not
work. It will not reconnect your Address Book Service, and Outlook 2007
provides you with no option to repair it either. Nice combination of mutual
incompetence, huh?
Your only option now is to create a new Outlook profile from scratch, then
configure it to use your previous PST file as its default.
