I am trying to access www.performancebike.com and keep getting the prompt
"This Page Cannot Be Displayed." I have checked the settings in Explorer and
added this URL to the tursted sites with no success. I've tried to "ping"
the site and received the "request timed out" message. I have no
difficulties with other sites and have been able to access this site, via my
lap top, through my DSL modem and router. I am not running the XP SP2
Firewall and have tried turning off Zone Alarm without success. Any and all
suggestions sincerely appreciated.

Tnx,

Les

Hi,
Easy steps first...
A complete shutdown for about 5 minutes- computer, modem, router-
everything.

Delete the Temporary Internet Files folder and the History folder. See:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Open a Cmd window (or from Start> Run) enter
ipconfig /flushdns
Then restart.

Are you sure that ZoneAlarm was disabled? Any other security programs
running that might be causing this?

Check the HOSTS file. Make sure that Windows is showing hidden files and is
not hiding file extensions for known file types then check for a HOSTS file
at [C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc] Open the HOSTS file with notepad. If
there are any redirect entries in it you can put the pound sign (#) in front
an entry to disable that redirect. Or you can rename the HOSTS file to
HOSTS.OLD to disable it.
More on the HOSTS file at http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/

Many of the steps at:
870700 - How to troubleshoot problems accessing secure Web pages with IE 6
[XP] SP2: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;870700
are worth trying.

Many other possibilities at:
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers.htm#dns
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/ans...m#secure_sites

Hope this helps,
Don
