I start having this problem after my computer frozen while i was browsing
with about 20 different IE windows open.
Since then, anytime I browse to specific pages with (JSP or other contents)
the page half loads and then it stops working and I can't access that page
anymore
on ANY browser for 3-5 minutes.
After lengthy troubleshooting, I found out that IE stops connecting to
certain websites (SSL sites, or sites with JSP) when under the Tools ->
Options ->
Advanced menu I have 'Show Pictures' checked.
If I clear the check mark, IE works beautifully fine, but obviously I have
to load images manually.
I've read somewhere that MSFT is aware of this problem in IE6 SP1 and this
relates to corrupted or incompatible URLMON.DLL file.
I'm running IE6 SP1 on Win2K SP4. I've done everything, removed IE and all
its previous updates, remove SP4, reinstalled IE, repaired or forced IE and
still no luck I've also done all the basics of clearing cache, removing temp
files....etc
I've installed different version of URLMON.DLL , but that did not resolve
the problem. I'm STUCK! So please any advises (other than format or
reinstall windows). I'm using FireFox now, fast browser but its support for
DHTML/javascripts sucks big time. It is also not robust and freezes when I
have 20 windows running for over a day.
Any suggestions, ideas, things I missed ? I heard there would be IE SP2,
but couldn't find no info in that regard.
This only happens if I have 'Show Pictures' checked, otherwise it works fine
(oh, and yes I did delete the registry keys for that option and IE recreated
them again)
Thanks,
Tamouh
