Hi.

I just got a new PC and to get my files mover over to the new computer, I
created a Workgroup and hooked up my old computer. I'm finding from
Microsoft that sharing of the "Documents and Settings", "Program Files", and
Windows folders is not allowed (XP Pro), no matter what I try. I disabled
Simple Files Sharing, set the permissions for Full Control and .... NOTHING!
Access is denied from my other (new) computer.

How in the world do I simply get my files moved over the network to my new
computer?

Thanks.

XP Pro blocks networked access to those folders when simple file
sharing is enabled.

Un-share the disk, disable simple file sharing, then re-share the
disk and try to access it.

You should be able to share individual folders within those folders
even with simple file sharing enabled.

If all else fails, copy the desired folders to another shared folder
and access them from there.

Glenn,

The "Documents and Settings", "Program Files", and Windows folders require
administrative access. Besides disabling SFS, you need to setup, activate for
network access, and use a common, non-Guest administrative account on both
computers, with an identical non-blank password.
