Why can't I access the data on my slave drive after
reinstalling Windows 2000 or XP on the master drive?

Probably, you don't have permissions. Permissions where set from another
operating system, and with different SID's even for the administrator
account. Try to take ownership first, then apply correct permissions.

Best regards
