Can't accept meeting invites

I'm a delegate to another individual. When I recieve a meeting invite from one person, I can't accept them, as a delegate. I receive an error of "Operation Failed". I have no problem accepting invites from anyone else. We are both using Outlook 2000, running on Win2000. I receive the same error when I attempt to decline the meeting. Any thoughts.
