I have several email accounts and Windows Mail will receive and send email
for them with the exception of one of my accounts. I can receive email, but I
cannot send. Every time I try to send an email using this account I get a
"Windows Security" message asking me to verify my user name and password. I
enter these and then the message just comes up again. I verified my un and pw
with my email host and they are correct. I can't figure this out. Can anyone
help me?

Which antivirus are you using? It is likely that the antivirus has
corrupted that account.

Delete that account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account.

I have McAfee Security Center.

I tried deleting the account and restarting Windows Mail, but I still have
the same problem. Do I need to adjust settings in McAfee?

Thank you for your quick response by the way.

It's more likely you need to uninstall (not just disable) the McAfee
program,
and then run this addition to the uninstaller to finish cleaning up:

<http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=107083&lc=4105&partner=McAfee&type=TS&ia=1>

Some replacement antivirus programs you might consider are avast! and AVG
for home use, either one with a custom install that tells it to leave out
the
part that scans email, or NOD32 for business use:

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff

http://www.eset.com/

You might also try entering your user name with no CAPITAL LETTERS,
and with or without the part of your email address starting with @ added.
You might also try waiting 5 minutes after the last failed try it case your
email provider is making an extra effort to keep someone from guessing
your password.

Hmmm...is this a glitch in Windows Mail or in the McAfee software? I don't
like the idea of not scanning my emails for viruses. I receive a lot of
attached files for my work and would hate to have bigger problems than this
becuase I stopped scanning my emails. Does Windows Mail not allow any virus
scanning of emails? Although I did try to set up the account in Mozilla
Thunderbird just to see if I could ditch Windows Mail and that did the same
thing. I have tried every which way of entering my un and pw that I could
think of, and nothing worked. Maybe I'll just keep using my other email
addresses to reply to messages I receive on this account. Any other
suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for the help.

Email scanning by any program is apt to upset Windows Mail. It's totally
unnecessary and provides no more protection that the normal resident
protection.

1. Make sure the user name is all lower case. Also, some want the part
before the '@' and some want the whole email address.

2. Make sure the password is entered properly. It is case sensitive.

Is the account that won't send associated with a different mail provider
and/or different SMTP server than the accounts that are sending properly?
Can you post the complete error message?
