I acquired a used CanoScan N670U scanner, but no software. I easily got
drivers and can use it to get pictures to Word.
What I really want is the software disk (or copy) that came with the
scanner. Canon won't replace it, even for money. They really want me to buy
a new scanner.
If I can get this thing running, I will donate it to some needy child in my
town.
I actually use a Microtek 5900 which works great.

Try VueScan <http://www.hamrick.com/vsm.html>. It works fine with my
N1240U which is the same as your scanner except for the maximum
resolution.

What software do you have in mind? All the software of relevance can
be downloaded from the Canon web site. You have the drivers now
download Scangear and that's all you need.
