I'm posting this from Google so it didnt let me reply to some of your
posts.
I hope you will find this post useful as it saved me a lot of time and
didnt have to contact canon (POS support).
I'd have to say for those that think the tanks are in the wrong spot,
you gotta be kidding me. It is too hard to mess it up.
I have the same problem of my color prints coming out as "negative" or
"pink where it should be blue, cyan is black, etc".
When you replaced the ink tanks, you'll notice that they go into a
green tray. This green tray has is actually the print head. It also
has the contacts (1980's style I must add) in which the print head is
connected to the printer. This contact is flimsy. The green tray must
be secured and checked prior to each print job you want to do after a
period of having the printer off.
I just used a lintless swab. Got the good ol 90% cleaning alcohol and
swiped both sides of the contacts. Clean the contacts on the green
tray AND the contacts on the printer that they mate to.
You'll find that the colors are back to normal. I would do a "nozzle
check" test after each time you reseat the print head. This will save
you $$ and ink and paper.
I hope this helps..it sure got me for a while. If you got any S series
Canon printing problems I'd like to know. As far as I know, Canon
support sucks the biggest. I hate generic and broad FAQ as "support"
for their customers. Go HP next time.
