Hi, any ideas would be appreciated.

Printer has worked flawlessly for the 18months or so I've owned it.

I was printing 2 documents tonight. First page, fine. Sent the second page
to the printer and it started printing, but stopped and ejected the paper.
The light was alternating orange / green. I thought it was some sort of
paper error, although there wasn't anything jammed as the paper was ejected
, so I pressed the Resume / Cancel button. The blinking continued, so I
turned the printer off , waited a few minutes, then powered up. Same
thing...alternating orange / green (1 blink of each colour).

Consulted the manual re blinking lights and it said 2 or 3 blinks for paper
jam and 4 for one of the colours low. My ink monitor hasn't worked for some
time, but the carts SHOULD be pretty full . I thought I'd take a look, but
when I lifted the cover to access the tanks, they didn't come across.

I tried the Canon troubleshooter, but the pages wouldn't load (probably some
sort of SP2 security glitch with IE ) so now I'm stumped?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Just took another look and brought the head across manually, there didn't
seem to be anything preventing that.
All the carts are full as I expected, so it's not a low ink problem...?
Lights still blinking though...

The error conditions (lights) you referenced are for blinking orange only
and not alternating.
The alternating flashes indicate more serious (and less common) error. There
should be a certain number of orange/green separated by a single longer
green flash. If you can double check and reply with that number I can tell
you what the error is.

By the way, moving the head manually as stated in your other message is not
recommended.

I unplugged it overnight and this morning, same situation. I'm
annoyed!!...but I'm also at a loss to understand what caused it! It was
merrily printing a page....no crash, no power failure , nothing that would
seem to precipitate a catastrophic failure of this nature.
I realised that manually moving the head probably wasn't a good idea, but it
wasn't about to move on it's own and I needed to confirm the tanks were
full...which they were. Looks like I'm off for a replacement machine and I
have another to ad to the landfill.
Thanks for you help
Wilma!

Wilma, if I remember, at the Canon site there is somewhere a table
about the meaning of the blinks. I guess all the models behave
similarly.
A helpful discussion for me was

Thanks Guenter,
I have found the page on the Canon site, and it says that the orange / green
pattern means that it needs repair.
It's interesting though. I unplugged and left it over night and when I
powered up in the morning, it was fine.
Turned off and on and couple of times, and then got the 'waste tank' full
blink patter. Powered down and left it for a
couple of hours..repeat of the orange / green blink and the last time I
turned it off and left it, it powered up OK.
Clearly, there's a MAJOR problem and I'll have to replace it. At the moment,
it's on and operating properly,
so I'm just going to leave it that way until I get something else.

I was looking at the Pimxa 3000 today, but I 've read some mixed reviews, so
I'm going to post here and
see if anyone can help me!

Wilma

For the 530D go here and use the Interactive Troubleshooter
