I suspect this is not the right place, but I have recently bought a new desktop (HP Pavilion) and I want to still use my Canon S40 digi camera. The CD that comes with the camera says that the driver for the camera will not install with the VISTA OS!

I have searched the Internet for an updated driver for the camera, but it seems that Canon have said said that they will not be supporting this model with updated drivers!!!!!!!!!

So thank sa bunch Mr. Gates and your mates at Microsoft, that because I decide to support you and your OS, I now have to go out and spend a shed load more cash on a new digi camera that will work the way YOU want it to?

Any suggestions?

Regards and Thanks

Poor Brit Boy!

Use your camera's memory card to upload photos to your PC. It's a better
choice because it does not use the camera's battery.

MS is not at fault for not making old products work with their newest
O/S. Technology, including operating systems, is constantly evolving. A
product that is more than a few years old, such as your S40 camera, is
not going to be a priority for its manufacturer.

Canon, who IS responsible for their drivers, is on to newer, better, and
cheaper, which is understandable.

As suggested in another reply, buy a very inexpensive card reader and
plug it into the USB port. It will appear as a new drive letter, and
allow you to easily transfer images to the PC. Some cameras do not
require special drivers. Check Canon's WEBsite for info on that.

Thanks for your help. Appreciated

But it is still frustrating to have a perfectly functional piece of kit that
is actually now not usable...!

What's not functional? It's much easier to put your memory card into a card
reader and transfer your photos to your PC.
