I have a Canon N1240U scanner that I have been running on another
computer of mine for the last year or so. The other computer is Win2K
Server and the scanner has been working perfectly.
I recently tried to set it up on my WinXP Pro machine. Following the
step-by-step directions, the drivers are installed. I plug the
scanner in (USB) and Windows detects it, and installs the drivers,
stating the device is now ready to use. Here lies the problem.
Photoshop 7, Acrobat 6 and any other application that I attempt to use
won't find the scanner as a device. Device Manager recognizes it and
states that the device is working fine. I've tried to delete and
reinstall the drivers many times, with rebooting all around. Still
nothing.
Anybody have any ideas?
I thought it may be something to do with the USB ports and power. I
have a MS Natural keyboard USB plugged in to one of the 4 ports on the
back of my machine. My mouse is plugged into the keyboard. No other
USB devices. I've changed the config around to plug the scanner into
every port on the back, still nothing. Even unplugged the keyboard
and tried the setup with a PS/2 kb.
Thanks in advance.
