Is there a way to use my Canon Multipass C5000 with XP?
In trying to download an XP compatible driver, I find
that it is not supported.

There is a C5000 driver for Windows 2000 listed at
http://www.printer-drivers.com/companies/191.htm

However Canon never officially produced drivers for any of the NT based
O/Ses (NT, Win2K, XP) so I have no idea whether it will actually work, but
it's probably worth a try.
