I have a desktop and a laptop both with XP Pro service pack 3.
Desktop is 6 yrs old, laptop 2.
Canon MX700 multifunction (USB) installs and works on laptop.
Hardware install craps out on desk. Only message is "the required
section was not found in the INF".
Printing functions seem to work, fax. The MX700 will not scan to the
desktop.
Software on Canon's site is same as disk.
The desk has had various USB cameras, printers, webcams, wi-fi on it
and is currently using a USB cellular modem for internet access. A
mobo usb 1.1 and an add-on card for usb 2.0.
Any ideas of what may need fixing?
The desktop XP has never passed MS validation. I can only reliably
update "critical security" issues.
Some updates can be copied from the laptop but not all.
