....we have a new Canon MP490 and have just tried its copier
function... it gives a large black stripe running the length of the
81/2x11document in all settings. We have not tried the scan function
yet. There is nothing in the troubleshooting or on the net about
this... anybody have any idea what this might be? It's going to be a
pain returning the thing (80 km trip). thank you for any clues - dax

o ya - fat stripe on scans too. Bet the sensor-bar or whatever it's
called has a bad patch. Or something. *sob* dax

Same here. I've had this printer for about a month and used it
sparingly, and the problem developed today on both the scan and copy
functions. Printing worked foine. I'm currently communicating with
Canon, who told me to perform some cleaning. Don't waste your time.
I'm awaiting their next suggestion.
