Canon L75 problems w/W2K updates

After applying several updates to a Win2K(SP4) system, I can no longer
print to my Canon FaxPhone L75. The error msg generated (at least from
the "Print Test Page" option of printer properties) is:

"The print job failed to complete", "Reason:"
"The system has detected conflicting print settings"

Googling for this error turned up a couple of hits and, based on some
advice from people with similar problems, I disabled spooling to this
printer (selected "Print directly to the printer"). This allowed the
print jobs to go through, but is much slower.

Anyone from MS or Canon have any suggestions?? Is a newer driver
likely to be available to address this problem ??

Thanx,
e

Yes Canon is working on this. I'll confirm this is the same issue and see if
Canon has an ETA on the drivers.

Hi Alan,

Sorry I meant to respond to this sooner. We are aware of this problem and
we are working on a driver upgrade that will address this.

In the mean time the following solutions also work:

1) Uninstall Windows 2000 Hot Fix of KB896424.

Or

2) Workaround using driver settings:
- Turn off Grayscale (for some models)
- Turn off EMF spool (for some models)
- Use higher print quality.

Thanks,
-Dan

Hi Alan,

I'm so sorry for late reaction. Canon publishes a patch file fixing this
problem on web site. You can download the file as follows.

(1) Open FAXPHONE L75 Download Library site
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/con...tailAct&fcateg

oryid=337&modelid=8721

(2) Click "Drivers / Software"

(3) Select "FAXPHONE L75 Printer Driver Patch File"

(4) Click "I Agree - Begin Download"

(5) Click "v12_w2ksp4_r1.exe" to download.

(6) Run (decode) v12_w2ksp4_r1.exe and then run "v11_update.exe" in it.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best Regards,

Tomo
