I've translated a german guide into english and converted it to PDF. Hope
it's of use for people who need to refill the cli-8 carts.

Excellent information, thanks!

It also seems that Canon has indeed taken a step backwards: it has
removed the prism which allowed optical evaluation of the ink levels
and gone back to what HP and Epson are doing: they simply count ink
usage without really knowing how much ink is there.

What a shame for Canon!

Did they remove the prism? I've heard that prism should stay, only
additional software counter should be added...

Knightcrawler is right.. you do NOT need to login to get the download..
choose any of the public servers and you get there...

To be fair the website is designed in such a way as to encourage people
to login, and it is a tad confusing.. but it is free of login.

It seems to need JavaScript enabled, without it I don't see
anything but the login page.

Yep I can confirm that. No need to login, besides
it says login to give comments. And it is
confusing to a person that never uses such a site.
I try to download two times, then figured out
I'm just a bit stupid and punched a download
server. Oh well, at least I can still walk around.

Thanks to Knightcrawler. I don't have a iP4200
yet but may be purchasing one. And I wanted to
see how the filling differed from the the iP4000.

If you read the Canon manual you will find it the same.

Its a poor translation ran throug babelfish.

Filling is the same for BCI3/6 series carts.

The part involving inserting the cart in the printer needs rewritted by a
good human translator.
