Canon i9900 unable to be printed to by network

My Canon i9900 is connected via USB 2.0 to an XP system and cannot be
printed to by the other XP pc's on the network. All the other pc's can see
the printer and it's driver, but will not actually print. Is there some
configuration that is needed for successful networking of this printer?
Thanks

Peter

YOU NEED TO INSTALL THE CANON PRINT DRIVER ON EACH PC THAT USES THE
PRINTER. THE PRINTER ALSO HAS TO BE SHARED BY THE COMPUTER IT IS
ATTACHED TO.

Thank you, I actually thought about installing the driver on the other pc's
but thought I would post here first and you kindly answered my question. I
will try it tomorrow and post the results.

You do not need to install the printer driver on each xp computer in
order to print on your canon i9900 from other computers.
We have an i9900 installed on one computer and shared to 5 others.
If you currently can see it on your other computer but can't print from
it, then first delete the printer from that computer and start the
network install all over again.
Be sure you have the i9900 shared on the printer it is actually
installed on. Then go to start/printers and faxes/add a printer on the
computer you want it to be available on. When the wizard comes up be
sure and check "A network printer, or a printer attached to another
computer'.
Click next and go to "Browse for a printer". here you will find the
i9900 on the computer on which it is installed. Click on it and it will
install and be available.
Print a test page and you should be good to go.
We have multiple printers installed on various computers that are all
shared on our network. We never install the drivers on the other
computers as it is a waste of time and not necessary.
We also never ever use oem ink after the originals run out. We are
currently using Hobbicolor in our i9900 with excellent results.

Thanks Frank,

This is the procedure I tried on two pc's already but can't get past the
error msg. "the resource you are attempting to connect to is unavailable"
or some such nonsense because the printer can be seen and the driver appears
but a no print condition still exists. Maybe I will try deleting it one
more time and hope that's the charm

You may have to delete it from the computer it's installed on. Then turn
the printer on and reboot the computer. Then try the network install
again. Be you're sharing the printer on the computer it's installed on.
Be sure both computers are on the same named workgroup.

Remember if the printer is not physically connected via USB, Parallel
Port, Fire Wire, etc., to the computer, installing the drive is not
necessary and usually will do nothing.

THAT IS CRAP. BY INSTALLING THE PRINT DRIVER ON EACH COMPUTER EACH USER
CAN SET THEIR OWN SET OF DEFAULTS. IN MY SETUP ONE PERSON PRINTS IN
DRAFT MODE AND ANOTHER IN STANDARD MODE. EACH DRIVER IS SET DIFFERENTLY
ON EACH COMPUTER. THESE PEOPLE HERE DO NOT KNOW WHAST THEY ARE TELLING
YOU AND FOR SURE THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE BUYING.

AFTER YOU DELETE ALL PRINT DRIVERS FROM ALL MACHINES REBOOT (COLD START)
PRIOR TO REINSTALLING THE PRINT DRIVERS. YOU CAN SET EACH DRIVERS
DEFAULT THE WAY THE USER LIKES AND THEY WILL WORK INDEPENDENTLY OF EACH
OTHER.
