I am thinking of buying a better color printer than my HP 932C.

I like 8 x 10 borderless prints and wonder if scanned images from
magazines, photos etc. are better reproduced on the 950 or 850?

I would say that such comparison is a bit wrong, since 850 is a 4 color
printer, while 950 is 6 color one. Surely 950 prints better photos,
especially drops are not visible. It's just a matter of choice - if you
think it's worthed to pay extra money and get true photo printer.
For my needs currently i550 is quite enough. (But i might reconsider in a
year or two...)

toms hardware seem to think canon need not sell any other printer than the
i850 for price/performance running costs.
