It would appear that the Canon i865 is not optimised for USB 2.0...

I'm looking to possibly add USB 2.0 to my PC...but if the i865 is 1.1
standard then it's hardly worth it.

I doubt you would see any significant increase in output whether it was
usb1,2,or even a parraell cable...most printers don't need 400mps

Optimised, no, but it's being 2.0 would be to not bring the whole USB
bus down to 1.1, which is what happens when you connect 1.1 only
devices to a 2.0 bus.

I think that if you go to the Canon website and check it's specs, it is in
fact *only* a 1.1 device....that was the whole point of my post...perhaps I
wasn't clear.

If Epson can bring out a new similarly specced printer (R300) at a lower
price point (at least here in the UK) with 2.0, then why can't Canon...

Simon.

On an i960 .. don't know about i865 .. the print time, using USB 2.0, is
about half that of USB 1.1.

it's USB 2, not USB 1.1

that doesn't define if its USB2 full speed, or high speed. Technically both
are still USB2...

Take yourself along to www.canon.co.uk and take a look at the i865. You'll
find it's 1.1 - the i965 is 2, but not the i865.

Go here http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Comp...ucts/index.asp choose
'Bubble Jet Printers'.

Compare the i865 with the i965.

Quite clearly the i865 states USB. The i965 states USB, and crucially it
also states USB 2.0 High Speed, whereas the i865 does not...

If that clear enough, then look at the USA website for the i860 (the same
printer minus CD printing) at:

http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCpr...9387&section=1
0214

and the i960 at:

http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCpr...9388&section=1
0214

Still convinced that the i865 is USB 2 enabled?

Si.

Not really, but it is possibly I saw somewhere USB2 Full speed, which is
just renamed USB1.1 and I don't think you get the Windows warning about
plugging in a legacy USB device into your USB 2 controller. If so, at least
Canon aren't trying to pass it off as USB2 etc

Technically USB does not mean it is not USB 2 Full Speed either...
