We bought 2 Canon i850's the beginning of 2003. We use aftermarket ink
and went already through 3-sets of cartridges. During Sept this year
we started to have problems with the Magenta color --it print
different shades, instead of solid color, in the same document.

We have a second i850 that is doing the exact same thing. Canon says
the aftermarket product (obvious not OEM Canon's ink cartridges) that
we use destroyed the printhead and now we need to replace the
printhead. We did not even print 1500 per printer. It is standard ink
that worked fine in our S-750--


Any advice??

The same problem has happened to me with every printer That I have put 3rd
party ink's in, Stick with the Canon ink's and you wont have problems..

i have a canon 1850 printer that i use to print weekly church
bulletins and for personal use. i average about 125 prints per week
(6500 per year) and have used inkjet goodies refill ink from day
one........never had a clog or mismatched color print. maybe i am
just lucky but i know of other people who are having sucess refilling
canon carts...
once a week i remove the print head and clean it and also remove pad
that head rests on and flush with running water, perhaps this
contributes to my "good luck" with refill inks....... ~jerry~
