A friend has just bought a second hand Win 98 comp with Canon BJC265SP
printer and FB330P scanner. Though they are old, they have been used
very little, if at all. The printer works OK and will print text from Works
etc, but when attempting to scan images direct from scanner to printer
(copy), all he gets are pages of alpha/numeric characters instead of the
image. The scanner will also scan to temp file. Any ideas apart from
reloading (no scanner disc) and he is not on the Net.

you cannot scan and print when using the Scannner's pass thru printer port
which I presume is where the printer is connected to.
You are trying to get data and send data at the same time
