Canon BJC-8500 Problem

My trusty BJC-8500 decided to give up in the middle of a print job. The
printer powers up and then beeps 4 times and the error lamp stays on.
This normally suggests lack of ink or something similar and pressing the
resume button usually gets you going until the next p[age after which
you can repeat the resume button solution until you have definitely run
out of ink. In my case with power lamp light on, 4 beeps and the error
lamp on the printer refuses to do any resuming.

The local Ca non dealership without stripping the machine have said that
it is the main board (logic board) and that this is not available and
would take some time to procure at a cost of approx $750.00. I am not so
sure that it is the logic board and would like to know if anyone has any
other suggestions, we have tried new cartridges and heads.

I think this printer is fantastic and the print quality using Adobe
Press Ready RIP software is excellent. I would be reluctant to scarp it
as it cost quite a bit 3 1/2 years ago and I feel there is nothing as
robust in the Canon range to meet my needs.

If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful
Thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but they may be right.
The manual says it is either the cartridge (you have changed this), the
carriage unit, carriage board, carriage ribbon cable or the logic board.
Careful inspection *may* show a problem with the carriage ribbon cable and you
could make sure all of the connectors are firmly home in their sockets but if
any of these have failed it will be difficult to get parts and they will be
expensive.

The following rudely inserted into my post by the troll and low life Measekite

"da Tiger in da business"

Yep, in "da business" which is why I know things you don't and why I am in a
position to give professional advice (which you don't) for free; albeit not
good news in this case.

Thanks Tony
Great to have someone prepared to share his knowledge.
It looks as if the 8500 is destined to be an expensive doorstop or
anchor for someones boat

I still can't figure out wtf, "da Tiger in da business" actually
implies. Does this half wit moron really think it's better to take
advice from an inexperienced idiot like him instead of a real
knowledgeable working professional in the business like you Tony?
Is that what his poorly written drivel of a message is trying to say?
If it is then obviously you'd have to be brain dead to take his advice.
Believe Tony, he is a real professional.

If Mr Measekite is so full of comments how come he didn't reply to my
query in the first palce or doesn't he know enough?

I am gratefule for Tony's input and pleased that someone in the business
is prepared to share his knowledge albeit in my case that it was not
good news. Thanks again Tony

He didn't reply cause he don't know anything about printers, ink or
paper. As you have just witnessed all the old fart can do is post
gibberish and change others post.
How ****ing original right?
Pay no attention to him. He's totally worthless and either drunk, on
drugs or mentally deranged. He's been barred from all ng's that have a
monitor. This is his home.
Are we lucky or what!
