I'm sure this has been covered MANY MANY times, but I'd appreciate a
response if possible.

When refilling the above what should happen to the air vents at the top end
of the cart (opposite the exit port ?
Should they be

1 Sealed or uncovered during refilling ?
2 Sealed or uncovered for storage ?

So far my experience seems to be that uncovered during filling works best ?

Any tips appreciated!

Once you open the tank side for filing, the other vent has no real function,
but should be kept open to allow ink to penetrate the sponge. For storage,
cover it.

Definitely uncovered (to allow proper absorption) during refilling and
regular operation, of course.

Definitely sealed for long term storage to prevent drying.

Right you are. I once took out a cartridge that was registering low and
when I looked at it I noticed I hadn't removed the tape from the vents.
Fortunately, it had worked perfectly so I assume my seal wasn't exactly
air tight. I just use dollar store (Scotch type, transparent) tape.

Tips is good. That's why we're here... all tipsy (some more than
others). ;-)
