Canon - 9100 or 950?

I'm looking to buy a good photo printer, and I've always liked Canon.
I was going to get the 950; the reviews have been excellent, both
here and elsewhere, but then I read about the 9100. From reading the
specs it looks like a 950, but can print on larger paper, which would
be great as far as I'm concerned. I'd want it mostly to create
posters, and large photo prints for framing.

It looks like its a fairly new release out so I haven't seen a lot of
reviews (only one really, and that was positive), and very little
mention of it here. I'm willing to pay the higher cost for the larger
paper size, as long as the quality is still excellent, but I was
hoping to hear some opinions. Is the 9100 simply a larger print size
950, or are there more differences then that?

We purchased an i9100 recently and the prints are fantastic.

Black and white prints can be trouble, though.
We tested several different glossy and matte papers printing
B&W photos. Canon's 'Photo Paper Plus Glossy ' was the only
glossy paper that printed true B&W photos for us. Boise has
a matte paper that also printed good B&Ws. OfficeMax's
glossy photo paper prints came out with a slight blue tint
to them. The rest of the papers we tried printed B&W photos
with a very unattractive green tint to them. We tested
Canon, HP, Kodak, Boise and OfficeMax papers.

Ink consumption is high but each color is in an individual
tank and can be replaced in mid-print with no loss of
printing quality.
Our highest ink usage has been with the black, photo cyan
and photo magenta tanks. We mostly print B&W photos, though.

All in all, the i9100 is a great printer. It's very quiet. I
also like that it will power-down into a "sleep mode" until
you tell it to print something.
I like this printer a lot and highly recommend it.

We bought the i9100 from http://www.yesmicro.com for $458
with free shipping. It was well worth the money for us.

You may need to copy and paste part of that link.

The truth is out there. You just have to look in the right places and ask
the right questions.
