Canon 4200 and MP530

My printer died from a nearby lightning strike - along with a lot of other
things. I've had good experience with my Canon 4200 scanner so I bought a
Canon printer, specifically an MP530 multifunction machine. My question has
to do with its scanner.

On my 4200F I push the scan button on the front panel, and it makes XP bring
up ArcSoft to handle the scan. Not the best software in the world, but it
works and I'm used to it.

On the new MP530, when I push the scan button it brings up a list of
possible applications and asks which one I want to use from now on. Not
included in the list however is the ArcSoft program. Yet I know that if I
manually start up the ArcSoft it's perfectly happy to scan from the MP530.
Somehow the MP530 is not aware of the ArcSoft program. Does anyone know how
to configure this? I don't know if it's a Canon issue or an XP issue.

Thanks.

Bill

Click "Control Panel" select the "Scanners and Cameras"
1. Select your scanner, right-click on it and from the context menu
choose "Properties".
2. Click the "Events" tab and select a scanner event, for instance the
pushing of a scanner button (most scanners offer an OCR button).
3. Under "Actions", select ArcSoft "Start This Program" then click
"OK".
