Cannot write to a new R/W CD

I am using the WinXP CD burning utility. I can write to
an older R/W CD, but when trying to write to a new CD (I
tried several), the wizard ends with a message "Cannot
complete the CD writing wizard".

Before running the wizrd, I started IMAPI manually, but
that does not help. Also, when the wizard exits, the
mapi.exe process closes.

Thanks,
Mickey.

Nicholas,

I appreciate your help, but I did some reading and web
searching prior to posting the request. I cannot afford
any more researching the technology of DC burning just to
be able to write a new CD...

Some more info - I also tried to use Veritas DLA SW (The
CD drive is an HP 9100 that comes with it), but no help.
Got a mesage "drive not accessible. Incorrent function").

I do succeed to write Read-only CDs, as well an an older
used R/W CD, but not new CDs.

BTW, once the WinXP wizard fails and exit, is the R/W CD
obsolete?

Mickey.

RecordNow & DLA work on my machine.

DLA disables the built in XP burning program.

Have you right clicked on the CD drive icon and clicked use with DLA?

To drag & drop (packet writing) using DLA the RW-CD has to be formatted. To use a RW-CD with XP the disk must NOT be formatted. So to use DLA forget about the XP burner.

Since you can't afford more time to help yourself to learn about the software you are using I can't afford any more time pointing you in the right direction.
