| Hi,
|
| I think I have a permissions type problem.
|
| 1) Had Symantec SystemWorks Pro 2003 loaded
| 2) Wanted to upgrade to 2004 version
| 3) Tried to load new version but was prevented because
| removal of the old version was required first.
| 4) Did uninstall of 2003
| 5) Still could not load because install program said that
| 2003 was still loaded.
| 6) Repeated the sequence above a few times but still no
| luck
| 7) Edited the registry to remove all keys that contained
| the string "SystemWorks"
| 8) Was then allowed to start the install
| 9) Install stopped again because of many messages similar
| to the following:
|
| "Could not write value DLL path to
| KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SYMANTEC\SHAREDTECHNOLOGY\CONFIG
| WIZ\{big-hex-number}. Verify that you have sufficient
| access to that key, or contact your support personel."
|
| I was logged in as administrator. With the help of
| Symantec support, checked all the registry key permissions
| that seemed relevent. All were set as "full control."
|
| Other than this loading problem, all other programs appear
| to work fine.
|
| Any suggestions?
|
| Thanks in advance for your help.
|
| Regards,
| Don
