When I go to this address:
http://www.rehoboth.com/realestate.asp
I cannot see the banners, the area where the banners should display is blank.
Any idea if I have something set in IE6 that prevents that?
I also cannot see the banners on:
http://www.rehoboth.com/realtors.asp
Thank you.

Hi,
You probably have another program blocking these, or (less likely) a HOSTS
file. information at http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers.htm#ani_gif may
help. A number of programs that can block some images are listed at
http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/redx.htm

Hope this helps,
Don

Don, thank you, but no luck. Tried everything and still can't see those
banners. Anyone else have a possible solution? Thanks.

I am having the same problem. Not seeing banner ads don't really bother me,
but I DO want to see relevant banners, like weather banners.
The strange thing is, that i can see the banners at the bottom of THIS page:
http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/78862.html, but when i go to the
page with the bigger banners:
http://www.wunderground.com/geo/Bann...ons/78862.html, i
cannot see them!
I also have tried ALL of the solutions found in the different pages you
posted, but i am still having the same problem...with IE6 SP@, and the new
firefox! I DO have notron 2005 installed, but DO NOT have their firewall
running. I am using the XP firewall, with everything in IE set to default!
Can you help?
Thanks,
Dominic

Hello Dominic:
You are doing better then me. I can't see any banners on either of those
pages. I too have tried everything I could but still cannot view the banners
I initially talked about. Interestingly enough, I was at my daughter's house
and she has a new DELL computer running XP that also couldn't show the
banners. The reason I need to find a solution is that two of my clients have
banners on the real estate web page at Rehoboth.com and they pay $100.00 a
month for the service. I need to find out why since it may be affecting many
other users and their money is going to waste. I'm going to try and see if I
can get some help from COMCAST. Both my daughter and I use COMCAST. Maybe it
has something to do with them. Sorry I can't be more help. Stan.

Stan. I checked the site you mentioned, and i can see everything, so i'm not
sure if it is an ISP thing. I am currently checking with my ISP just to make
sure. You see, I a doing a site for my ISP, and I want the wunderground
banners. I can't put it there if I can't see it!!!!! Well at least it is not
only me!!!!! This rubbish happened when I upgraded to SP2!!! Before that,
everything was fine!
I will keep looking, and will post if I get any further.
Good luck.
Dominic

Try using View Source to see what exactly it is that you can't see.

For example, I tabbed to the first banner, got its properties,
extracted its URL, did a find for that (after deleting the protocol prefix
and the server name) to find:

http://banners.wunderground.com/bann...ions/78862.gif

Can you see that? If not you have reduced the scope of your problem.

Hi Robert. I have alreadydone that, and even entering the url, i cannot see
the page.......
This is what i see:
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be
experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser
settings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is
spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click
Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should
match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).
See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set
Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network
connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting).
Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK.
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then
click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have
installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings
can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the
Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0,
SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

I have done all that, and still can't see anything.

Then I suspect the problem is with your DNS or, as others may ask
you to check, with your HOSTS file. In the latter case the most likely
problem would be that the HOSTS file is not pointing to the same address
that nslookup finds is now being used.

Can you resolve that image's server name to an IP address?
(e.g. using ping or tracert)

If not, Enter in a command window:

nslookup banners.wunderground.com

If that times out enter instead:

nslookup wunderground.com

and then try the first command again.

Alternatively, enter just nslookup (by itself without operands)
to enter its interactive mode and enter that server name and
that domain name to test them. Enter the exit subcommand
to end the nslookup interactive session and return to the normal
command line.

There is more that you can do with nslookup in its interactive mode
to find a site's address but let's start with that. Recently I have had
to resort to the domain name trick myself several times to find some
of the sites that others have reported having problems with.

Good luck

Robert

I am able to view this banner. I am also having problems viewing some
pictures on many other web pages. For example ice.com and
http://www.nypost.com/gossip/pagesix.htm. Some pictures I can view and
others I can't. Please help.
