Problem: XP boots to the user name sign up screen then
after the user name and password is used, it shuts down
and re-sarts

I have tried to go to a restore point but it says it
cannot be accessed at this time.

I do not have a disk becasue it's an HP computer and the
restoral software is on the hidden partition which does
not work.

any suggestions?

Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Choose Last known good configuration at the menu.

Otherwise contact HP.
