Cannot use autorun for programs

Anytime I try to run\install a program from my cd-rom i
get the following error:

The procedure entry point "various words here" could not
be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll

anyone know what's going on and how i can fix this
i know it's not the programs b/c they run fine on my laptop
