Cannot update USB Driver (MS Hardware error) / IPOD

Hello, I just bought an ipod and it functions fine. But it is not
recognised by itunes. It does "bleep" when i plug it in to the USB port. On
the bottom right of my screen there is an icon that looks like cables and
pops up a window "new hardware, ipod." However, in My Computer the Ipod is
not shown and in Itunes it is not shown. After reading lots of pages I got
to the right-click my computer, manage, device manager. I see ? Other
Devices \ ? Ipod. Idouble click and it says :
This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1) To reinstall the drivers
for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
I do this, Hardware Update Wizard starts, Yes, Install automatically, NEXT.
Here MS Management Console prompt, crashes "send error report".

I've also tried to find a driver to manually download and I can't. I'm so
dissapointed because I bought the ipod yesterday and can't get my computer to
work! Can someone help me?
