Cannot uninstall-reinstall program

Hi everybody,

It seems that I cannot reinstall a particular program, Google Earth.

I could not obtain a solution on the Google Earth forums, Whilst on this NG,
I always get good advice.

My PC, XP-SP2, is pretty stable and well maintained.

Here is my problem : I tried to install the new Google Earth V 4.3., but
things didn't go well.
As a result, The previous version (V 4.2) has been removed (so it seemed at
first) but I cannot reinstall it, nor can I install the new
version.

If I try to reinstall V4.2 I get an error message indicating (in French)
something like "the configuration data are corrupted".
If I try to install V4.3, then I get the "error 1714", meaning that the
previous version cannot be removed.

Since then, I tried everything I could think of : cleaning by hand the
registry so that there is no trace of Google Earth. Using CCleaner,
running Windows Install Clean up (There was no indication of Google Earth in
the list. Same with ZSoft), etc.

Would you know how to make the Google Earth installation program "believe"
there is no previous version installed ? Is there any particular "legacy"
file to delete ? Because indeed, the installation program detects the trace
of a previous version, although, as far as I know, there is no
trace of it in the registry.

Anyone ?
Many thanks in advance for your kind help and suggestions.
With Brgds,
Daniel

I installed Google Earth 4.2 and 4.3 (VPC running XP SP2) and Total
Uninstall logged the changes made to the system. Click on the link to view
the two log files.
